TECHNICAL GUIDE · SOUTH KOREA
Korean industrial pellet I2 / I3 requirements, without the sales fog.
A procurement-oriented summary of the industrial pellet table and referenced test methods. Use it to screen a supplier, then use the buyer’s actual specification for the transaction.
| Parameter | I1 | I2 | I3 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bulk density, received | ≥600 kg/m³ | ≥550 kg/m³ | ≥500 kg/m³ |
| Moisture, received | ≤10% | ≤10% | ≤10% |
| Ash, dry basis | ≤1.5% | ≤3.0% | ≤5.0% |
| NCV, received | ≥16.5 MJ/kg | ≥16.5 MJ/kg | ≥16.5 MJ/kg |
| Nitrogen, dry basis | ≤0.5% | ≤0.7% | ≤0.7% |
| Sulfur, dry basis | ≤0.05% | ≤0.05% | ≤0.05% |
| Chlorine, dry basis | ≤0.03% | ≤0.05% | ≤0.1% |
| Durability, received | ≥97.5% | ≥96.5% | ≥95.0% |
| Fines, received | ≤4.0% | ≤5.0% | ≤6.0% |
The same annex also specifies limits for As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Hg, Ni and Zn, plus declared ash-melting behaviour and additives. Do not reduce an industrial qualification to ash and calorific value alone.
TEST METHODS
Methods are part of the specification.
The annex references KS M ISO methods for sampling, sample preparation, nitrogen, sulfur/chlorine, bulk density, dimensions, durability, ash, calorific value, moisture, fines and ash-melting behaviour.
This matters commercially: two numbers are not comparable unless basis and method are aligned. RFQs should identify dry/received basis and the requested test method.
